Obama Winter: Unemployment rate remains at 9.6 percent

Any doubts that the nation needs a change in direction should be erased after the release of October's unemployment figures. The jobless rate remains at 9.6 percent--for the third straight month.

On Tuesday, several dozen members of the House of Representatives who voted for President Obama's $862 billion stimulus boondoggle were fired by the American people. The Democrats said that the national unemployment rate would not exceed 8 percent if their so-called stimulus became law.

On the positive side, 151,000 jobs were added last month. But that just kept the unemployment rate from going higher. There never was a recovery summer. We're still enduring Obama Winter.

With a Republican House, jobs-killing legislation such as union card check and cap and trade are dead. But Obama might try to sneak them in incrementally through federal agencies he controls.
