Republican wins Hawaii House race

Reliably Democratic Hawaii elected a Republican in a special election to fill a vacant House seat. Charles Djou won a winner take all race, gaining 40 percent of the vote, two Democrats won most a majority of the other votes.

But Djou promises to prevail in November in the contest for a full term.

The district Djou will represent, the 1st, includes Barack Obama's former Honolulu home.
