Jesse Jr. considering endorsing Kirk for Senate?

The hits keep coming for embattled US Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias. First a tough primary battle, then the failure of his family's Broadway Bank, and now Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Chicago) is considering endorsing Mark Kirk, his Republican opponent, in the general election.

"I like Alexi Giannoulias, but I have great respect for Mark Kirk and his service to the people of Illinois," Jackson told Politico.

Kirk leads Giannoulias in almost every poll. It rarely happens--the 1972 Cook County State's Attorney's race comes to mind--but when Chicago African Americans shift away from a Democrat, it dooms the Dem.
