Things have gotten a little better there, in only earned a "Watch List" mention. But from what I read yesterday in the Madison Record, the county may be headed back to the top. From March 29 through April 2--just one week--17 new asbestos-related lawsuits were filed in Madison County Circuit Court--and a quick review of the article shows just two of these suits have anything to do with Illinois.
Why Madison County? Reckless judges turned it into a judicial hellhole, and many law-firms looking for a quick buck have set up offices there.
While I have great sympathy with someone who is suffering from asbestos exposure, I am skeptical of the merits of these suits--if if they have strong cases, why file in Madison County? There are over 3,000 counties in the United States.
