Becker nomination fails in Senate

The nomination of Craig Becker, a radical labor lawyer, to the National Labor Relations Board has failed to get the necessary votes for cloture. Only 52 Senators--all Democrats--voted for Becker, who in writings has advocated going against the will of Congress and ramming the anti-Democratic card check down our throats.

Sixty votes are required to end debate.

Last week I expressed doubt that the Democrats could muster a majority for the Employee Free Choice Act, which includes the so-called card check provision. Viewing the Becker vote as a proxy tally for EFCA, I'm not that far off--even though 12 senators missed the roll call.

The vote is great news for our economy and our country.
