Illinois tops in stimulus spending, Emanuel credited

Illinois is the nation's fifth-most populous state, but it is first in stimulus spending, CBS 2 Chicago's Mike Flannery tells us. Barack Obama of course is from Illinois, as is his chief-of-staff, Rahm Emanuel.

Prior to becoming chief of staff, Emanuel was represented Illinois' 5th congressional district. His successor, Mike Quigley, is grateful that Emanuel acts like a Chicago ward boss.

"The President's Chief of Staff deserves a lot of credit," Quigley said. Emanuel helped steer that money to Illinois. "The president and his chief of staff have helped Chicago and Illinois a great deal," Quigley added.

Illinois of course is just of one of fifty states.
