Sangamon County State's Attorney John Schmidt, a Republican, has been relentless in his perjury investigation of Sen. Roland Burris (D-Blagojevich). Schmidt wants to know if Illinois' junior senator lied under oath to a state House committee while testifying about his appointment to the Senate by disgraced former governor Rod Blagojevich.
AP is reporting tonight that Burris' attorney, Timothy Wright, has completed his summary of events and legal argument and it's in Schmidt's hands.
However, the documents have not been released to the public. If they are, I have a feeling there will be another explanation after this explanation.
