These photographs were taken by Mrs. Marathon Pundit two days ago--Evanstonians had already marked their claims to the choice viewing spots.
Morton Grove has a parade too, a pretty good one, but the folks won't begin choosing their spots along our parade route until later this morning.

Thousands attend this parade and it goes on for hours. I was there today and I've attended several times.
People used to start putting their chairs out two weeks earlier until the city passed an ordinance limiting curbside real estate claims to 2 days in advance.

ReplyDeleteI remember getting our bikes all decked out with Red, White and Blue streamers. Weaving the Streamers through the spokes. And riding in the local parade in Glenview.

And there is nothing so remarkable about the parade except, perhaps, the sheer size of the parade and the size of the enthusiastic crowd, decked out in patriotic regalia. Evanston loves parades.
