Tribune Co. accepts Zell buyout offer, Cubs will be sold

Today is Major League Baseball's opening day (yesterday's Cardinals-Mets matchup was a night game), and as part of Sam Zell's just-accepted buyout offer of the Tribune Company, owner of the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, and a lot of television stations, the Chicago Cubs will be sold at the end of this season.

An interesting sideline on the Cubs: Chicago radio rights belong to WGN, and many of the games are aired on WGN-TV, both are owned by the Tribune Company--and these are long-term commitments.
