Runner attempting to run across Nebraska

In my last post I wrote about a harmless crazy person--the character in the John Prine song "Illegal Smile."

Some people might also include North Platte, Nebraska native Scott Giddings into that category.

Earlier this month Giddings, a network engineer for Girls and Boystown in Omaha, began an attempt to run across his home state. He jumped out of the starting block--metaphorically speaking--last week in Henry, located on the Wyoming border, and hopes to end his run in Omaha next week. Giddings is averaging 30-35 miles a day.

Giddings is using his run to not only draw attention to Girls and Boys Town, but also to raise money for the legendary home for children founded in 1917 by Father Flanagan.

For more information on the run, visits Giddings' web site.
