Lonnie Donegan: Battle of New Orleans, Rock Island Line, and two other skiffle tunes

Over at Da Tech Guy on Sunday I reviewed Van Morrison's latest album, Moving on Skiffle. Although it originated in America in the 1920s, skiffle was rediscovered by British youths in the 1950s. The "King of Skiffle" was a Scotsman, Lonnie Donegan.

He was the most popular musician in Britain before the Beatles. Donegan was blessed with a couple American hits, one of those was the novelty tune, "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavour," which he pounds out here.

You'll first USA hit, "Rock Island Line" as well as "The Battle of New Orleans." That last one was first popularized by Johnny Horton.

And the performance concludes with "Never Falling in Love Again.
