The remaining two mayoral candidates are Paul Vallas, who is calling for hiring more police officers. His opponent is Brandon Johnson, whose campaign is largely funded by the Chicago Teachers Union, which has been paying him about $100,000-a-year even though he is a Cook County commissioner.
Three years ago, Johnson said that defunding the police was "a political goal."
If you live in Chicago, who to vote for should be quite clear.
In related Chicago news, over the weekend, four people were shot to death and at least 14 others were wounded.
Of the fatalities, two men were shot to death a half-hour apart Friday night in East Garfield Park. And in a double shooting Sunday night, two men were fatally shot in Greater Grand Crossing on the South Side.
