The ultimate responsibility of any government is to protect its citizens. But the city's murder rate is soaring--and in the past week there have been three mass shootings. Carjackings are skyrocketing too.
So if a business doesn't feel safe in Chicago--or if feels the city is unsafe for its customers--it is likely to look elsewhere for a home.
So it is with the Chicago Bears who have placed a bid to purchase Arlington International Racecourse in northwest suburban Arlington Heights even though they have lease at Soldier Field on Chicago's Lakefront until 2033.
Bears president Ted Phillips says they plan to "explore every possible option" in regards to a home. Chicago's unhinged mayor, who is beholden to leftist ideologies that makes her incapable to addressing Chicago's crime wave, predictably lashed out at the Bears, who have called Chicago home for 100 years. "And like most Bears fans, we want the organization to focus on putting a winning team on the field," the Ohio native said, "beating the Packers finally, and being relevant past October. Everything else is just noise."What a petulant child.
Lightfoot needs to retool her mindset and focus on protecting Chicagoans.
