Chiraq: 7 dead and at least 35 wounded over Labor Day weekend

Austin
Things were somewhat calmer in Chicago compared to recent Labor Day weekends. For the most recent end-of-summer weekend, seven people were shot to death and at least 35 others were wounded. It's the least violent Labor Day weekend since 2014, a police spokesperson says.

Of the murders, two of them occurred in Austin on the West Side, which is Chicago's most dangerous neighborhood. One of the killings was part of a murder-suicide. Also on the West Side, a 15-year-old was slain in North Lawndale while walking on a sidewalk. On the Southwest Side, a man was gunned down at LeClaire Courts. On the South Side, Washington Heights and Auburn Gresham had a murder each. Up on the Northwest Side, in another sidewalk slaying, a man was shot to death in Belmont Cragin.
