Flashback: Schumer called Comey reopening Hillary email probe "an appalling act"

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) hasn't always been a supporter fired FBI Director James Comey. In a debate with his Republican opponent during his reelection effort, Schumer sang a different tune about Comey, specifically about the "October Surprise" decision to reopen the probe into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while she was Barack Obama's secretary of state.

"I think the first step is he owes an explanation," Schumer said of Comey then. "He's got a big burden of proof, so to speak, on him for why he did what seems to be such an appalling act that goes against the tradition of prosecutors at every level of government."
