Chiraq Rising: 6 dead and 55 wounded over New Year weekend

On New Year's Eve in downtown Chicago the second annual Chi-Town Rising celebration occurred. Meanwhile in the rest of the city it was Chiraq Rising. Six people were shot to death over the three day New Year weekend--and at least 55 others were wounded.

Meanwhile, President-elect Donald J. Trump excoriated Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Twitter."Chicago murder rate is record setting ," Trump Tweeted, "4,331 shooting victims with 762 murders in 2016. If Mayor can't do it he must ask for Federal help!"

In other Chiraq news, the Chicago Police Department hurriedly announced that Chicago's 2016 total was 762 yesterday. Why? Because Monday was a federal holiday, a great day to dump bad news, although the CPD is using an old playbook, people get their news at all times now on their smartphones and tables.

But why the hurry? Those 762 murders were 57 percent more killings than last year--and more than New York City and Los Angeles combined. But Hey Jackass, which I trust more than the CPD PR hacks, has this to say:
