Fabulous Poodles: Mirror Star

It's time for a musical break--I'm going to take a look back at the late 1970s and a band that was sadly overlooked, the Fabulous Poodles. This Kinks-inspired band was cursed with bad timing. The Fab Poos' theatrical flair--exploding ukuleles were part of their stage act--was more suited to MTV or the glamour rock era. But glam was over by the mid-1970s and MTV didn't make its debut until 1981. And it was between those epochs when the Poodles made their music.

The band didn't quite fit in with the New Wave either--the violin, both acoustic and electric, was a key component of their sound, although the Poodles had first-rate New Wave credentials, Who bassist John Entwistle produced their first album.

Here are the Fabulous Poodles performing their most popular song, "Mirror Star."
