(Photos) Greekown Casino billboard on top of an abandoned factory in Detroit

With so many abandoned buildings in Detroit, ironic sights are bound to appear, such this one where a Greektown Casino billboard sits on the roof of the abandoned American Blower Corporation factory at 6060 Rivard in the Milwaukee Junction neighborhood.

The sign can be easily seen from the Chrysler Freeway, of course that is the point of a billboard.

Here's how the not-so-pretty structure looks at the corner of Piquette and Russell.

Casinos, by the way, were supposed to be the economic savior the Motor City. How did that work out?

The building appears to be about one-hundred years old. After American Blower, which was a manufacturer of fans, according to AtDetroit, Square D, then Volunteers for America moved in. Its last incarnation was as the home to a warehouse, Quality Storage.

That's the sidewalk on Russell across from ABC.

Facing southwest on Piquette the abandoned Fisher Body 21 plant comes into view.

The Milwaukee Junction neighborhood was the birthplace of the Detroit automobile industry.

It has fallen far.
