(Photos) Part three: Detroit's abandoned Packard Plant

Three days after my last Packard plant post, the old factory made national news when a tiger brought there for a photo shoot briefly got loose among the rubble.

The tiger is gone but the decaying building remains.

Although the rail industry has suffered from competition from the trucking industry for decades, the journey for most cars from the factory to the showroom includes at least some time on a train.

A half mile away from this spot on the northern end of the decaying giant is General Motor's massive Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center, where the Chevrolet Volt, the Buick Lucerne, and the new Cadillac CT6 are built.

As with much of the rest of Detroit, the invasive ailanthus trees, also known as the tree-of-heaven, dominate the arborscape.

Vegetation is emerging on an old access road.

On the southern end the old factory is collapsing.

The tagger Azul is a member of the destructive HS Crew; he refers to the Detroit Police as "pigs."

This graffiti reads "Sheeple--quit drinking the Kool-Aid."

Look closely and you'll see the message, "Natalia, prom?"

Interesting buildings. That doesn't mean I know what they are.

Decay, rot, and erosion.

Thanks for reading. Parts one and two are right here.
