(Photo) Steam rising from a Detroit street

As I wrote three weeks back--leaking steam is a common sight in downtown Detroit. There are many miles of steam pipes beneath central Motor City streets for power generation--and sometimes the pipes leak. I mean, hey, this is Detroit!

As was the case at the historic Alexander Chapoton House at 511 Beaubien Street. The home, a Queen Anne style rowhouse, was designed by, built by, and lived in by Chapoton--who has descended from early French settlers of Detroit.

The home is listed on National Register of Historic Places.
