(Photo) Shooting star wildflower

Here's a seemingly otherworldly wildflower--a shooting star. The usually-white-but-sometimes-pink nodding blossom gives the plant its name because it resembles a falling meteor.

I discovered this shooting star at Dam Number 4 Woods South in Park Ridge, Illinois just a few steps from the banks of the Des Plaines River.
