Knowing that if they don't do anything dramatic today the Republican takeover of the Senate will be the most prominent news story today, the Obama White House did just that. It released a statement that the president will veto any bill authorizing the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. The long-delayed project will bring millions of barrels of petroleum from out good friends in Canada. Fracking has already led to steep cuts in the price of oil, more oil means even cheaper gasoline.
Construction of the pipeline will create 20,000 good-paying jobs. But what does our food stamp president care?
As for the White House trying to control the news cycle. It's a good strategy in the short term, but in the long term, it's best that they try to govern effectively and work towards bettering our nation.
The Koch/keystone will 'support' 45 thousand already existing jobs for 2 years, and create 2500 construction jobs for the same 2 years. After that it will create 35, yes, 35 jobs. That's all. The
ReplyDeletePresident's economy is creating 350,000 jobs per month on average. 350,000. If you still believe that the kxl is creating and paying for 10s of thousands of jobs, ask your simple self this question: wouldn't it be a lot cheaper just to keep shipping the oil by rail? Have a silly, simple day, sap.
Most construction jobs, such as home building, road resurfacing, office tower building and the like are temporary. Think about that.
