It can happen here: Chicago area man indicted for wanting to join Islamic State

Homegrown jihadi terrorists are not just a French problem. A southwest surburban Chicago man allegedly wanted to join ISIS.

From AP:
A federal grand jury indicted 19-year-old Mohammed Hamzah Khan, of Bolingbrook, for allegedly trying to travel to join terrorists in Syria.

Federal prosecutors said Friday that Khan was charged with a single count of attempting to provide material support of the Islamic State group. Khan has been in federal custody since he was arrested in October at O'Hare International Airport.

Khan was originally charged in a criminal complaint in October. The indictment returned late Thursday formalizes that charge. It carries a maximum 15 years in prison and $250,000 fine.
