Veterans Day 2014: Ottawa, Illinois' War Memorial

The program is under way at Ottawa, Illinois' Washington Square. The park, best known as the site of the first Lincoln-Douglas Debate, holds an annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Ottawa War Memorial, which is pictured here.

For the past six years the Ottawa American Legion Post 33 has held a 24 hour vigil about ten days before Veterans Day--vets take turns in 15-minute shifts.

Freedom is not free. Remember and thank our veterans.
