(Photos) Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Des Plaines

Driving north on Rand Road in Des Plaines, you'll see a small cemetery on your right-hand side that is so well-maintained that it looks like a display park for headstones. But if you look closely, you'll see that times--and perhaps vandals--have toppled a couple of the grave markers.

It's a real graveyard--Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, but it doesn't even appear on Google Maps and there is no sign on the property.

The original cemetery was a few blocks to the south--adjacent to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

The center stone reads "Behrens." As with most older cemeteries in Chicago's northern suburbs, most of the those buried here are of German descent.

We'll see more of the toppled stone in the next photograph.

The final resting place of JC Seegers, which is just a block away from...

...Seegers Road.
