So people can leave Illinois? East St. Louis wants high-speed rail stop

Get me out of Illinois!
Although I've never been there, I've been assured by folks who have that East St. Louis, Illinois is one of the most miserable towns in America. Decades of Democratic misrule and widespread graft have destroyed it. Of residents are sadly expecting government to turn ESL around, so they're rallying around another boondoggle, Illinois' proposed high-speed Amtrak rail line from Chicago to St. Louis.

A press conference was held in East St. Louis today where it was announced that 3,000 signatures have been collected in supporting an ESL high-speed stop there.

I can see why people want that stop there--so they can leave corrupt and economically feeble Illinois as quickly as possible.
