(CBS Chicago video) Quinn lied about actions in NRI slush fund scandal

Last week Illinois' phony reform governor, Pat Quinn, claimed that he was the first to blow the whistle on the rampant fraud within his $54 million Neighborhood Investment Initiative that was unveiled in the fall of 2010, as the Chicago Democrat faced a tough election battle.

NRI, an anti-violence program, was in fact a "street money" scam to increase black voter turnout in Chicago and its inner suburbs.

But it was Republicans in the General Assembly who first sounded the alarm, as CBS 2 Chicago tells us.

Illinois has $100 billion in unfunded pension liabilities and $5.6 billion in unpaid bills.

As for the anti-violence program, murders in Chicago increased by 20 percent two years later.
