Violent Easter weekend in Chicago: 9 dead, 35 wounded

Lately Chicago Police chief Garry McCarthy and Mayor Rahm Emanuel have been patting themselves on the back over the decline in the number of murders in the city.

But could it be that the long and bitterly cold winter had something to do with that?

Easter weekend was balmy and dry. And over that weekend nine Chicagoans were murdered and another 35 were wounded. One person was shot to death beneath one of those seemingly ubiquitous police blue-light cameras.
