Clueless: Six months after erecting Barrycades, NPS director complains of "disconnect"

Grand Canyon National Park
In two years the centennial of the founding of the National Park Service will arrive. But its director, Jonathan Jarvis, who was in charge of the NPS during last autumn's government shutdown that led to the erection of the "Barrycades" at park entrances and even open sites such as the World War II Memorial in Washington, is lost in the woods.

From the Salt Lake Tribune:
"What I sense with the flattening of visitation, the budget issues and the legislative attacks is that they are symptoms of the waning relevancy of the (National Park Service) to the American people," said Jarvis, who was in Salt Lake City to be the keynote speaker at the Wallace Stegner Center symposium.
He also complained about a "disconnect" among millennials.

Wow. The NPS went way out of its way to keep people out of areas it manages, now its director whines about a "disconnect."

Jarvis is the one who is disconnected.
