Three Axehead Lake photos: No ice, some ice, all ice

Here are three photographs of Park Ridge, Illinois' Axehead Lake, which was formed from a borrow pit to construct Interstate 294, the Tri-State Tollway.

This is how Axehead looked last July.

In mid-December it was partially frozen.

And here how Axehead looked two afternoons ago. The orange pylons mark weak spots on the ice. Axehead Lake is a popular ice-fishing spot.
