(NBC video) Democrat mayor of Charlotte arrested, faces 20 years in prison

After just a few months in office, Charlotte's Democratic mayor, Patrick Cannon, was arrested on bribery and theft charges. Among the allegations is that Cannon received $20,000 in bribes in the mayoral office. He resigned this evening.

Charlotte, which has been yearning for big city status for decades, has finally hit the big time. It elected a crooked mayor.
