(Photo) Dark-eyed junco in the snow

While running in Niles, Illinois' Bunker Hill Woods yesterday afternoon, I got a close-up--make that closer than usual--of a Darked-Eyed Junco.

Most Juncos migrate south from Canada for the winter to the United States and northern Mexico. Denizens of forest grounds, lawns, and bird feeders, Juncos live on seeds and the occasional insect.
