ILL-inois: Two felons running for Crook County Board seats

This latest breakout of Illinois illness broke on Monday--but I'm a bit behind things because of Mrs. Marathon Pundit's health issues.

Two felons convicted of public corruption, former Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department head Al Sanchez and ex-Chicago alderman Isaac "Ike" Carothers, are running for seats on the Cook County Board.

Both men are Democrats.

Wise voters would of course choose other candidates, but in Illinois--and particularly in Cook County--such individuals are about as rare as dandelions in December. Which is why we need a law preventing felons from running for public office. In fact, people convicted of public corruption should be banned from holding a state or local job. Period--as my fellow Crook County resident Barack Obama likes to say.
