Agribusiness giant ADM staying in Illinois--without incentives

Foster Avenue Beach
There's a bit of good business news--a rarity--in the Land of Lincoln tonight. Earlier this year agribusiness behemoth Archer Daniels Midland announced that it wanted to move its headquarters from Decatur, Illinois to a more cosmopolitan city. It attempted to extract tax breaks from the venal General Assembly if it moved to Chicago--but guess what--ADM is moving to Rahm-town anyway.

It is the policy of this blog to oppose any such tax breaks to lure or keep companies in Illinois. My position is that taxes should be low and that regulations should be minimized--for everyone.

And hey there, Illinois pols--sometimes businesses actually want to stay in the Prairie State. Don't cave in to extortionists.
