90th anniversary of the Appalachian Trail--and it's closed

Yesterday was the 90th anniversary of the Appalachian Trail, although construction was not completed until 1937.

But because the trail is managed by the National Park Service, it is officially closed. So far there are no reports of Barrycades or police-tape on the 2,181-mile long AT, but let's not give the NPS goons any ideas.

However, as with other NPS websites, the Appalachian Trail site is down. Down? Some spiteful bureaucrat brought it down. Once properly set up, websites can pretty much run indefinitely.

Sheesh...
