April 19, 1775: Battles of Lexington and Concord, Siege of Boston begins

The Boston Marathon always takes place on Patriots' Day, which commemorates the first conflict of the Revolutionary War, the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

It was on this day in 1775 when "the shot heard 'round the world" forged a new path in world history.

Lexington and Concord were Colonial victories, as was the Siege of Boston, which lasted until the following spring.

Pray for the victims of the Boston Marathon. And God Bless America.
