ILL-inois: Four years after bicentennial, Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission dissolved

Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809, the bicentennial of his birth was celebrated across the nation and of course in the Land of Lincoln--Illinois.

The party theoretically continued in Illinois until a few days ago--although I don't know if any taxpayer dollars were spent on it recently.

From the Lincoln Courier:

The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission is officially history.

Gov. Pat Quinn eliminated the commission and others recently, which his office deemed unnecessary.

Former Bicentennial Commission member Ron Keller had no complaints about it. He said the group had been defunct for more than a year.

In fact, he was surprised to hear that it was still considered alive.

Keller may know a lot about history, but he doesn't know enough about ILL-inois.
