Giuliani at Reagan birthday event: "God found someone for us, Ronald Reagan"

Rudy Giuliani, a former Reagan administration official, praised our 40th president yesterday at a birthday celebration in southern California.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said most Americans thought the country was going in the wrong direction in the late 1970s before Ronald Reagan became the country’s 40th president in 1981.

During a ceremony Wednesday in Simi Valley commemorating what would have been Reagan’s 102nd birthday, Giuliani said that much like today, "most Americans thought there wasn't much hope of an America that would be better for our children than it was for us."

"Just at the right time, God found someone for us, Ronald Reagan, like he had done a number of other times in our past," Giuliani said in front of a crowd of several hundred people at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum.
