David Gregory: Hagel was in a "distinct minority" on Israel in Senate

Meet the Press host David Gregory, while interviewing Colin Powell this morning, said that President Obama's nominee to lead the Defense Department, Republican-in-Name-Only Chuck Hagel, was in a "distinct minority" on Israel while serving in the Senate.

Hagel, Gregory said was "One of four senators in October of 2000 who would not sign a letter expressing solidarity with Israel--as there was an intifada that was going on. Only one of two senators in July 2001 who voted against renewing the Iran-Libya sanctions act." After Hagel returned from a trip to Israel in 1998, AP's report of it, Gregory recalled, was titled, "Senator blames Israel for Peace Impasse."
