As further proof that the Chicago Teachers Union is run by ulta-leftists, I present to you a blast email that I received from Norine Gutekanst, the organizing coordinator for the CTU.
Gutekanst, who welcomed Occupy Chicago to their South Side headquarters in January, is urging people to take part in Black Friday protests at local Walmarts.
To her credit--at least the day after Thanksgiving isn't a school day.
On the other hand, what does protesting America's largest private-sector employer have to do with educating children? Barely half of Chicago Public School high school students graduate and just 15 percent of CPS fourth graders can read proficiently.
Gutekanst's email--with some formatting changes so it would conform within Blogger.com post settings--follows. Not a word has been changed--with the exception of a phone number I omitted. Everything below "Solidarity Action" appears to be an original message from OUR Walmart & Warehouse Workers for Justice.

We'll gather at 6530 S. Cicero, Bedford Park (near Midway) at 5:30 for coffee and donuts. From there we'll load up on buses and head to a number of Chicagoland Walmarts to support workers that are on strike. Make sure to dress for the weather!!
Across the country, Walmart employs 1.4 million people. We are not just the Associates that you see in stores, we are moms and dads, sons and daughters, husbands and wives working hard to support our families. We have been speaking out for good jobs with decent pay, regular hours, affordable healthcare and respect, but instead of working with us to make changes, Walmart has attempted to silence and retaliate against us for speaking out. Our jobs have been threatened, our hours cut, our schedules changed. Some of us have even been fired.
We will not be silenced. Throughout the holiday season, including Black Friday, we will be standing up for an end to the retaliation against workers who speak out for what's right for our families, our communities and our country, and we hope that you will stand with us.
It is not an easy decision, but without an end to the retaliation, Walmart workers across the country will be walking off the job in protest, and we hope you will join us in creative, non-violent action in solidarity with our strike. We ask that supporters take action that spreads the word about our strikes and demonstrates to Walmart a wave of support for workers who are speaking out.
