Not serious: Chicago Teachers Union prez shows up 90 minutes late to negotiating session

For The Kids? Not really.
Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis says that she and her members are "for the kids." Well, if that is the case, then she should explain why she was very tardy to a negotiating session today. She deserves a detention.

From NBC 5 Chicago:
Talks continued on the first full day of the strike, though they got started a bit later than planned. Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis arrived for the meeting about 90 minutes after the scheduled start. And when she did, she refused to comment.

"We're ready to go to work. We're disappointed that the urgency we feel doesn't seem to be shared on the other side," [Chicago School Board President David] Vitale said earlier in the day.
Is Lewis serious about negotiating?

There will be no classes once again for Chicago's 400,000 public school students--except of course for the non-union charter schools.

UPDATE September 11: NBC 5 rewrote its story since my posting last night. Lewis now says she wasn't feeling well. I suspect she is lying and showed up late on purpose as a negotiating tactic.
