Needed by Thursday in Cook County: 500 GOP election judges

Every few years I get called into jury duty where I live in Cook County, Illinois. Each time I've shown up, I'm  told that after military service, the highest duty of citizenship is serving on a jury. Well, I'd like to place serving as an election judge as a second place tie to jury duty--particularly in graft-ridden Illinois.

If you are a fellow Cook County conservative--pay close attention. Sharon Meroni, who I've met at a few GOP events--is a one woman powerhouse who has taken on the task of finding 500 Republican election judges. But her deadline is Thursday, September 27.

While judges need to be vigilant, the work--and it does pay--is not very difficult. There are morning, noon, and early evening rushes--split up by slow times. I served as a judge in 2002.

This is a perfect opportunity for registered Republicans who are retired, not working, or who are patriots who just want to do what they can to clean up Cook County.

More from Hillbuzz:
Here is what Sharon needs:

* 500 people who live in Cook County who voted Republican in the past (which means they are registered as Republicans in Illinois, because party registration is determined by which ballot you pull in the primaries)
* Get the word out that these 500 people need to go to www.ElectionJudges.us to apply to be election judges in Cook County
* Election judging requires being on site at a polling place for the entirety of November 6th, 2012. This might mean taking a sick day to do this…but you will be compensated $170/day for doing this.
* People who have questions about whether they would qualify need to call: 312-242-1818
If these positions aren't filled, the Democrats, and there are no shortage of them in Cook County, get to place their people in these jobs.

Despite Illinois' reputation as a Democratic stronghold, close elections happen here. Tea Party conservative Joe Walsh won his seat in Congress by just a few hundred votes two years ago. Most infamously, the Cook County Democratic machine stole at a minimum tens of thousand votes to nudge John F. Kennedy past Richard Nixon in Illlinois in 1960.

If you don't live in Cook County, which is comprised of Chicago and its inner suburbs, but you know a GOPer who does reside here--let that person know right now about Meroni and the Thursday deadline. Email this post! Spread the word!

I'm a republican election judge that's actually a republican. Did you know that when you go to vote, many of your republican election judges are actually democrats, wearing republican badges, because it's just easier that way and less people complain. Results of the election are posted online and you can retain a copy of the election tape when you leave and check if it matches. Election judges are assigned by republican committeemen so the democrat secretary of state has no control over who goes where. Becoming an election judge is the best defense against crooked elections. I highly encourage anyone who can to become one.
