8.1 percent unemployment: 43 months of a jobless rate over 8 percent

Whatever bounce President Obama might have gotten from his flat, State of the Union type acceptance speech last night at the Democratic National Convention, has been dampened by the August jobs report.

The nationwide unemployment rate went down from 8.3 percent to 8.1 percent. Good news? Hardly. Only 96,000 jobs were created--which doesn't even come close to keeping pace with population growth. And the reason for the decrease in the rate is that 368,000 Americanss have given up hope. They quit looking for work.

Nearly 89 million Americans aren't participating in the labor force--a record--and there were 119,000 fewer Americans working in August than there were in July.

We've tried Obama's way--and it's not working. We've suffered through 43 months of unemployment over 8 percent--another record.

Mitt Romney is right--Obama isn't working.
