(Video) Dept. of Energy official: Loan program that brought us Solyndra debacle has been "an enormous success"

In testimony today before the House Energy Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, David G. Franz, an official with the Department of Energy, told Chairman Cliff Stearns (R-FL) that the loan program that saw $535 million of taxpayer money thrown away on failed solar panel manufacturer Solyndra was "an enormous success."

Stearns goes on to name other green energy government guaranteed loan failures. Three of the first five recipients have gone bankrupt. "The other two seem to have significant problems," Stearns said.

And it gets worse. Although President Obama has been hawking green energy projects such as Solyndra as job creators, Franz told Stearns that the flawed green energy loan program was not about new jobs.
