Chicago Teamsters Local 727 hit with RICO suit

The powerful Chicago area Teamster Locals 727, a labor and political power base for the Coli family, has been with a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) lawsuit by SCI Illinois Services, a North Side Chicago funeral services firm.

John T. Coli Sr., the secretary-treasurer of that local, is also the president of Teamsters Joint Council 25, an umbrella organization of 20 Chicago area locals. That's their van on the right, which I photographed at Occupy Chicago's May Day rally.

Coli, along with two family members, are among the other defendants in the RICO suit.

According to the lawsuit, Coli was described as "belligerent and uncooperative" during a deposition. He also bellowed at the deposition, "For the record, go f*ck yourself."

Coli and Joint Council 25 endorsed Rahm Emanuel's successful run for mayor of Chicago.

Big hat tip to LaborUnionReport.
