The Move: Night of Fear

Before Electric Light Orchestra, there was The Move. Led by Roy Wood, the Birmingham band's repertoire also included classical elements, such as the familiar part of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture for "Night of Fear," the group's first British hit, which was released in 1966.


Jeff Lynne joined The Move in 1970, they recorded his "Do Ya," the only single to chart for the band in the United States. The following year Wood formed ELO, which was originally meant to be a companion act to The Move, but Wood left the following year to found Wizzard. Bev Bevan, who plays drums here, also stayed with ELO.
