Romney wins Michigan and Arizona primaries

Copper Harbor, Michigan
Well, Mitt is it tonight. The former Massachusetts governor won Michigan, where he grew up, by a narrow margin over Rick Santorum. In Arizona Romney prevailed by a comfortable margin.

I'm going to just talk about Michigan more since I know that state better. Romney's strength was in the Detroit area and in the far northern part of the lower peninsula. Santorum captured The Great Lake's State conservative belt, southwestern Michigan.

Too much is being made about Michigan being Romney's home state. He hasn't live there since the mid-1960s--his father hasn't been governor there since 1969. The youngest Michiganders who voted for George Romney are in their sixties now.

I was at a seminar this evening--while driving home from that event I listened to Romney's victory speech. It was then when it hit me that Romney comes across much better on the radio than on television. He'll never fill an arena with his presence like President Obama--but he has the basic skills to build upon for the general election if he is the Republican nominee.

When I see Romney on television, I get the feeling that he is addressing an annual meeting of a Bain-owned company. He needs to "rock out" a bit now.
