Photos: Michigan's orchards, vineyards, and Christmas tree farms in winter

With much of the national political attention focused on the Great Lakes State because of next week's Michigan Primary, I thought this evening would be a good time to post some photographs from my trip there last month.


Southwestern Michigan--all of these pictures were taken in Van Buren County--is wine country.


You can find apple trees there and...


...and cherry orchards. Years ago the Pontiac Silverdome near Detroit hosted the Cherry Bowl.


Many of the Christmas trees on display in homes where I live, the Chicago area, come from Michigan.
