Obama maybe backs down on religious coverage of abortion and contraception

President Obama backed down a bit from the ObamaCare directive that forces religious institutions such as Catholic hospitals to offer "free" contraception and abortion services. In an attempt at a compromise, in a announcement today, the president says now that instead, the insurance companies of these organizations will have to offer these "free" services.

Will those who oppose the first edict--such as the Catholic Church, accept it? I have doubts because these institutions still have to offer these services. Obama's new plan is analogous to having a father take $50 out of his wallet and put it in his wife's purse to pay for their son to attend a rap concert he doesn't want junior to attend.

Pro-life leaders are already slamming what the White House is calling "an accommodation."

As for ObamaCare, this demonstrates the pitfalls of legislators voting on major bills without reading them beforehand.

UPDATE 4:00pm: The president of the Southern Baptist Convention called Obama's accommodation "lipstick on a pig."
