Jobless rate down to 8.6 percent; but 315K leave workforce

Nothing is sacred: Stimulus sign
in Yosemite National Park
There is mixed news today on the jobs front. The nationwide unemployment rate dropped to 8.6 percent, which is the lowest it has been since March 2009. But 315,000 people, which almost matches the population of St. Louis, gave up looking for work in November.

Once again, I'm compelled to mention that the White House promised that the unemployment rate would not exceed 8 percent if the since-failed economic stimulus boondoggle was enacted.
